This Week at a Glance — September 27-October 5
- September 27: Feast of St. Vincent de Paul
We have a charitable society right here at Mary, Queen of the Rosary - our St.
Vincent de Paul Committee. This committee helps people who come to us in need. We are able to help them because of the generosity of our parishioners. We wish tothank everyone who donates to our efforts. The generosity of our parish continues to help us ease the needs of those who come to us.
This past year we were able to help thirty-one families who came to us seeking
financial help. The most frequent requests are assistance with fuel oil, overdue
electric bills, or past due rent. After interviewing the person in need, the
committee members meet privately to discuss the request. Once a decision to helpwith the request is made, we tell the person about our decision. At this time, we also provide information about other resources that might be beneficial. In allcases, confidentiality is of the utmost importance. The check is always madepayable to the agency/agent that is due the money - never to the individual.
Once again, we wish to thank everyone who contributes to our St. Vincent de Paul Fund. If you are not a contributor, we are asking you to consider adding us to your list of charities. No amount is too small. You might consider donations in memory of a loved one who passes away. Obviously, as with every charity, the needs often outweigh the resources. We wish to THANK YOU for your financial support as well as for your prayers as we continue the work of St. Vincent de Paul.
